The Bug that won't go away.

This is a 65 Bug that originally belonged to one of my customers. He bought it new, and then gave it to his kids to get them through college. In 1983, I bought it from him and used it as a parts runner, and a service loaner. In 1986, my son was stationed in Chicago in the Navy, and needed a car. I told him to take the bug. Well, it didn't last the 720 mile round trips. It blew a rod on I-80. I gave the title to the tow truck driver to get it off the interstate. Fast forward to 2000. A salvage yard calls me and wants me to fix a VW for them and to give them a bill of sale on a car in my name. It was the 65 Bug. The title had never been transfered. In return for fixing the car at the yard, I got the bug back, delivered to my house. It has been sitting here ever since, with no engine.
I am now in the process of building and engine and making a Baja out of it so my grandkids can learn to drive a stick in my pasture.
